Wynnum Road
Wynnum Road is a major arterial road running from Wynnum in to East Brisbane.
Between Junction Road at Morningside and around Tingalpa Wynnum Road has marked bike lanes (approximately 2.2 metres wide) in operation 6-9am and 3-6pm Monday to Friday. At other hours parking is permitted in them and cyclists will find themselves needing to change into the main traffic lanes to get around parked cars.
Between Tingalpa and Wynnum the cycling conditions vary greatly, with narrow lanes and non-existent shoulders in some parts.
Wynnum Road also runs past Murarrie Recreation Reserve, the location of a popular cycling track.
Roadworks
The Gateway Upgrade Project involves roadworks for road widening at the intersection with the Gateway Motorway. This has disrupted and closed the bike lanes both outbound and inbound, with some potentially dangerous cycling as a result.
