The World Naked Bike Ride describes itself as a celebration of cycling and the human body, and a protest against oil dependence. The inaugural Brisbane ride occurred on 10 March 2007 [1] and attracted considerable media attention in the lead-up. The event ran again in 2008 but the organisers deliberately avoided publicity prior to the event in an effort to avoid prior negative attention.
