Toowong - Sylvan Rd - Lights activation

This example of BCC's lack of planning or thought for cyclists is at the intersection of Sylvan Road and Jephson Street at Toowong. At this intersection there is provision for cyclists to press a button to activate the traffic light change. This button however was located 2m past the stop line. The situation remained for 5 years and cyclists effectively had to ignore the stop line. Even after the bike lane was freshly re-marked the situation remained. The line was finally moved by BCC after complaints were lodged. You can see the where the old stop line was in this picture and where the activation button is on the pole.
