Toowong - Bus depot car park

One of the near-invisible speed bumps in the bus depot car park.

Between Dean Street and Miskin Street in Toowong lies Brisbane City Council's Toowong bus depot. The designated route past this (joining the Western Freeway bike path to Milton Road and Sylvan Road to Coronation Drive) is through the depot's car park. As with all carparks, there is inherent danger from cars that may pull in or out of parks without indication or looking for cyclists, and this carpark also has several unmarked speed bumps to avoid. When negotiating the car park, watch out for the unmarked speed bumps, which are very difficult to see. They're only small, but dangerous if you hit one unexpectedly. Look for the yellow bike stencils on the ground, which mark the clear section at each end of the bumps.

Many cyclists choose to bypass the carpark and instead (illegally) take the straight section of road signed for buses only. This section of road is also one-way in the inbound direction, but many cyclists still use it in the outbound direction as well. The road is not heavily used by buses but there's just enough room to have a bus squeeze past if a bus and cyclist use it at the same time. There have been reports in February 2007 of police booking cyclists using this section of road.
