Toowong - Anzac Park - lack of signage

Most of the Western Freeway Bikeway is controlled by Main Roads with the exception being the short section through Anzac Park to Dean Street at Toowong which is controlled by BCC. Most of the Main Roads controlled section is fenced in. Despite Anzac Park being a popular recreational and picnic area, BCC chose not to continue the MR fence through this short section. At the beginning of the fenced entrance Main Roads has failed to provide any signage warning pedestrains not to enter. The first sign is a 'Bikes Only' sign about 40m into the fenced section. This situation is very dangerous for both pedestrians and cyclists as this section of the bikeway is a fast downhill run into Anzac Park.

This was reported to Main Roads on 24 Jul 06. Main Roads responded that all entrances were signed with 'Bike Only' signs. A photographic record was then sent to MR on 27 Aug 06 showing that this was clearly not the case here. As of 10 Sep 06 no further response has been forthcoming.
