Ongoing correspondence

I put up some pages where people can post their advocacy correspondence too as I see that as a good means to showcase just how much is going on. Many of the listees here have written some very fine letters to various bodies and some of these are buried in the mail list archives so they are not so widely known about.

The structure of this page seems well suited to collecting individual letters, but I've been wondering about how to document a sequence of interactions on a given issue. For example this article (which should probably be a proper article rather than on an image page) lists a series of communications related to a particular issue. It omits trivial communication and summarises each communication rather than quoting substantial contents or reproducing it in full, but it's probably still more detailed than wanted by somebody interested in the issue rather than the process of communication. What information should be published on the wiki, and how should (or could) it be presented? Any thoughts? -- Ian Lister 15:08, 14 May 2008 (EST)

Ian, I think that for an item like the Telstra bars on Russell Tce you could just put those on a page in the campaigns>infrastructure>shared paths for Chapel Hill - Russell Tce or in the section I added for general footpath obstructions. I did in fact plan to put a link to it there along with some other footpath issues from Yani and myself some time back when you first put it up and has been on my list to put up when I next get a chance at the wiki on broadband. Most of the issues that I have put up under the infrastructure section are very similar with a series of communications with different people usually by one person (me in most of those cases) and I have done exactly as you suggest and that is just to provide a brief summary of the time and who said what. I think that is quite sufficient to highlight the timeline and frustrations we face and to highlight any winning strategies for future comms. Bigger issues that involve more than one person might need a different approach but I think the correspondence section could be separated and threaded on the bigger issues easily enough if people are keen. Actual correspondence can of course be linked so we are not overwhelmed. --kim 21:57, 21 May 2008 (EST)
Makes sense, thanks. In hindsight now that you've said it, it seems obvious. I'll create an article page, refactor the content from the image page onto it, and add it to the infrastructure page at some point, but feel free to do it yourself if you beat me there. -- Ian Lister 08:45, 22 May 2008 (EST)
Thanks for doing that for me. -- Ian Lister 10:12, 28 May 2008 (EST)
