Road design guidelines
From Bikeqld
The main documents governing road design and planning as it relates to bicycles in Queensland are:
- The Australasian Guide to Road Design (replacing the old Guide to Traffic Engineering Practice, including the venerable Part 14),
- The Queensland Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices [1], Part 9 Bicyle Facilities,
- The Queensland Traffic and Road Use Management Manual (TRUM) [2], and
- Australian Standard 2890.3 Manual of Parking Facilities Part 3: Bicycle Parking Facilities
Information on these documents, including how they relate to each other and where they can be obtained, is available in Cycle Note A7 from the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Other useful guidelines are:
- Brisbane City Council's standard drawings [3]
- TMR's Cycle notes
- NSW Bicycle Guidelines, which are also approved for use in Queensland
