Riverside Drive sewerage works

Roadworks were ongoing for some time on Riverside Drive next to the Hanson building (look for Waverley Street on a map). These were the other end of the Bicentennial Bikeway sewerage works, and the signed completion date as at July 2006 was March 2005.

The road was down to a single lane, with a set of portable traffic lights controlling traffic. The lights were apparently on a timer (rather than having sensors) [1], and seemed to be red most of the time and take a long time to change, leading many cyclists to just ignore them and ride straight through [2].
