Regional trail
From Bikeqld
Regional trails are long, unsealed trails in rural areas, set aside for recreational use by cyclists, hikers and/or horseriders. They often follow old rail lines (which are typically removed before or during preparation of the trail) and for this reason are also commonly referred to as rail trails.
Trails in Queensland are limited compared to the more extensive trails found in states such as Victoria, but in 2007 the government announced it would fund development of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and Boonah to Ipswich Trail, two of the nine "highly ranked" proposed trails described in Active Trails: A Strategy for Regional Trails in South East Queensland.
