Kenmore - Fig Tree Pocket Rd - No Shoulders
From Bikeqld
Despite the Main Roads extension of the Western Freeway bikeway Fig Tree Pocket Road, which provides a main feed into the bikeway from the suburbs of Kenmore and Chapel Hill, was not upgraded to provide additional shoulder room for cyclists. The section running up from the Western Freeway exit to Jerrang St roundabout has a narrow gravel shoulder which is poorly maintained with large drops from the bitumen pavement. This is a BCC controlled road and obviously the efforts of Main Roads to extend the bikeway are not made in conjunction with BCC. This feed into the bikeway has the potential to be used by a number of school children from nearby schools and sporting facilities.
