Kangaroo Point - S.E. Freeway Bikeway junction

This first picture is where the South East Freeway bikeway joins the Kangaroo Point bikeway. The pavement marking on this section is confusing as the bikeway is 'two way' at this point despite the arrow marking. While this is not a particularly problematic misuse of the pavement marking symbols, these symbols are nonetheless legally proscribed in the Main Roads Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and it is up to Council and other authorities to use them as proscribed. This misleading marking was brought to the attention of Council early in 2007 and in March 2007 the arrow was crudely painted over to render it invisible. There however still remain some misleading directional arrows at other places on the bike track nearby which should not be used and generally the consistency of the markings is poor.
