Kangaroo Point - Leopard St Stairway junction
This is where the pedestrian stairway coming down from Leopard St meets the Kangaroo Point bikeway. As can be seen there are no warning signs to cyclists or pedestrians and the pedestrians are effectively guided onto the bikeway in a section where they have to make a 'dog leg' to access the pedestrian walkway. It is a very poor design by Council which compromises the safety of pedestrians and cyclists. Some simple addition of warning signs and a better location for the opening in the railings would improve safety.
Nearby in the carpark there are two openings which provide access to the picnic and barbeque area. These openings bounded by a small block wall about 1m high. The openings lead directly onto the bikeway and there are no warnings for pedestrians using this entry nor are there any warnings for cyclists that there is a pedestrian entry. The entries are particularly dangerous for the numerous small children that use this facility as they are not visible from behind the wall and emerge directly onto the bikeway.
