Eleanor Schonell Bridge
The Eleanor Schonell Bridge (titled the Green Bridge until late in construction) is Brisbane's newest bridge, having opened in December 2006 [1]. It is for buses, bicycles and pedestrians only, and joins Dutton Park to the University of Queensland at St Lucia. Buses travel along a roadway in the middle of the bridge, with pedestrians on the northern side and cyclists on a 3.5m path on the southern side. Cyclists are not permitted on the roadway.
The Dutton Park side
The path from the bridge connects to Brisbane Corso (around underneath the bridge) and up to the intersection of Gladstone Road and Annerley Road. The connecting bike lanes on these roads were at one point delayed until the 07-08 financial year [2], but in October 2006 $600k was made available and lanes marked.
The St Lucia side
The UQ end of the path across the bridge ends at a T intersection, with Sir William Macgregor Drive down to the left and College Road (and most of the campus) off to the right.
