Gateway Motorway
From Bikeqld
(Redirected from Gateway Upgrade Project)
The Gateway Motorway bypasses Brisbane by running roughly north-south around its eastern edge from the Bruce Highway at Strathpine to the Logan Motorway at Browns Plains (just after crossing the South East Freeway at Eight Mile Plains). It features a major crossing of the Brisbane River, the Gateway Bridge.
Cycling is not currently permitted on the motorway but the #Gateway Upgrade Project will provide cycle lanes [1] on the Gateway Bridge.
Gateway Upgrade Project
The Gateway Upgrade Project will duplicate the existing bridge (with each of the bridges becoming one way) and provide cycle lanes.
Schedule
- March 2003: construction started [2]
- August 2010: new bridge opens
- Mid 2011: existing bridge refurbished
