Gardens Point - The Drop to the River
From Bikeqld
At this point the bike path at North Quay merges back with the pedestrian path from Queens Wharf Road to become a narrow shared path with a broken directional diving line down the middle. This path runs immediately adjacent to the Brisbane River and there is quite a steep drop down into the river. This drop can be as high as 1.5m when the tide is low (shown left). The track is largely unprotected from this fall with the exception of a short fenced section near a stormwater outfall (shown right). There is a good chance that a cyclist or pedestrian could be accidently knocked into the river along this section as there is quite a high density of mixed traffic along this narrow section in both directions.
