Gardens Point - Confusing pavement markings

Riverside expressway misleading lane markings.jpg
At this section of the North Quay Bikeway the old and narrow bitumen shared path coming alongside the river from the Goodwill Bridge is met by a newer and wider concrete section which takes the path up onto Queens Wharf Road. This newer concrete section has none of the directional pavement markings continued from the old section and the old section continues alongside the river. It is thus confusing for both cyclists and pedestrians as to which direction they should continue in the absence of any advisory signage. The newer concrete section is by far the safest and most direct route for cyclists to take and further avoids the chance of taking a bath.
