Spot the Bikeway signage?
This is the almost complete entrance to the Western Freeway/Centenary Highway bikeway near Spinkbrae St at Fig Tree Pocket. The construction of which has taken two years to complete.

The Main Roads designed bikeway signage is obscured by another sign so they are not visible on approach until about 30m from the sign. In the top picture the signs are obscured at a distance of about 30m but closer up they become apparent.

Tiny bicycle sign
Spinkbrae St is the first entrance to this new section of the bikeway. The top of Spinkbrae St at Kenmore Road is signed as No Through Road and the only indication of cycle access is a small bicycle symbol on the blue Brisbane River sign. The next two entrances at Musgrave St and Norman St which also run off of Kenmore Road are also signed as No Through Road but there are no Bicycle signs at all and it is not apparent that these roads provide access to this new section of bikeway. The matter was raised with the BCC who should have made these changes when the bikeway was constructed. On Dec 1, 06 the BCC said that bicycle signs would be added to all of these entry streets.
