Bicentennial Bikeway
The Bicentennial Bikeway, running the length of Coronation Drive (between it and the river) is a shared path heavily used by cyclists, pedestrians, joggers and roller bladers alike. As well as being an important commuting path (for all the above forms of transport) it forms part of the river ride, and is a popular path for leisure and exercise (again, with all modes of transport above).
The path is narrow for the volume of traffic it carries (particularly at peak times), and cyclists need to be careful to avoid collisions on it.

Roadworks
A short section of the bikeway at Milton is closed, with a poor quality wooden bridge detour.
Another section at the QUT Gardens Point campus in the CBD is due to be closed shortly, with no direct detour. Official alternative routes are yet to be published.
Using the road
Although most cyclists use the bikeway, some cyclists choose to use the road instead.
The road has a tidal flow system where the middle lane changes direction depending on the main direction of traffic flow i.e. inbound in the morning and outbound in the afternoon. The left lane in the main traffic direction is usually a T3 lane, giving cyclists some space separate from most motorists.
Inbound
At the city end, the left lane peels off to Hale Street. You'll either need to move across to the right by then (to continue into the city on the road) or hop off to the left just before and use the bicycle/pedestrian tunnel that connects through to the shared path on the other side of the road, and finish the trip on that.
