Brisbane City Council has started providing lockup cages with swipe card access for a $25 deposit and a $25 annual fee (reduced from $55 in 2007).

Currently the only such facility in operation is at the West End CityCat stop, but in early 2007 it reported plans to build four similar facilities at large bus interchanges including Chermside, Carindale, Garden City and subsequently Mount Ommaney Centre, as well as lower security (and lower capacity) cyclepods at six ferry terminals.

The Mount Ommaney lockup was scheduled to be built by the end of June, 2007, and to have capacity for 24 bicycles [1]. However, in July it became known that the plans had been scrapped [2]. The status of the other three planned facilities is unknown.
