Also, they're making 20M / yr from ads on 1,600 bus shelters: that's about $4,000 per vandalised bike - if they have to replace 5,000 bikes/yr (ie 7,500 in 18 months) - not bad! they should quit complaining

  If the stats are right, then each bike has been used ~2000 times in 18 months (42,000,000 uses, and say, 21,000 bikes (15,000 working + 6,000 broken)) which seems 
  pretty decent - at 10,000 k's/yr that's also pretty good - incidentally giving a 7.5km average trip which also seems reasonable..
